I like to Stir&Fry – Basic Stir-Fry Recipe

Today I want to talk about one of my favorite dishes for lunch or dinner. STIR-FRY! It’s so superrr simple and easy to make and you can prepare endless different versions, variations and styles! You´re not just able to use almost any veg you like 😉 you can also use fruits and you can experiment with different sauces, use loads of spices and herbs and, on top of that, feel free to pick every side dish you prefer 😀 It´s great to enjoy a stir-fry along with grains/pseudocereals like (brown/red/black/white/…) rice, (white/red/black/mixed) quinoa, any kind of pasta, buckwheat, (sweet) potatoes, millet, hearty oatmeal/porridge,/semolina, polenta, any kind of lentils, …, and so on 😉 or even without any side! Just your veg only 😀 maybe also with beans? See? Unlimited options! Well now, no matter if you want to prepare an Asian-inspired stir-fry or more like an Indian, Italian, Spanish or even Mexican style – it never gets boring at all! You can combine and create just as you like 🙂

Of course we all have our favorites – things I always have at home just in case I want to prepare myself a stir-fry meal (I always have vegetables at home! I can´t live without ;))

My favorite ingredients for stir-fry or “things I use” for my meals (I don’t use ALL every time; it´s more of a list of stuff I like ;)) :

with Red Beet Quinoa

You need // Ihr benötigt :

  • 1/2-1 onion, finely chopped // 1/2-1 Zwiebel, fein geschnitten
  • Vegetables of choice (carrot, aubergine, courgette, pepper, broccoli, cauliflower, tomato, brussel sprouts, artichokes, mushrooms, …)  // Gemüse der Wahl (Karotte, Aubergine, Zucchini, Paprika, Brokkoli, Karfiol, Tomate, Kohlsprossen, Artischocken, Pilze, …) 
  • Greens of choice (spinach, kale, arugula, sprouts, … ; Optional) // Grünzeug der Wahl (Spinat, Grünkohl, Rucola, Sprossen, … ; Optional)
  • Legumes of choice (beans, lentils, chickpeas, bean- /lentil sprouts, … ; Optional) // Hülsenfrüchte der Wahl (Bohnen, Linsen, Kichererbsen, Bohnen-/Linsensprossen, …  ; Optional
  • Fruits of choice (mango, kiwi, lychee, papaya, pomegranate, … ; Optional) // Früchte der Wahl (Mango, Kiwi, Lychee, Papaya, Granatapfel, … ; Optional)
  • Tofu / Soy meat (Optional) // Tofu / Sojageschnetzeltes (Optional)
  • Spices and herbs of choice (cayenne, pepper, ginger, chili, paprika, cumin, curry, coriander, cardamom, caraway seeds, garlic, … ; thyme, basil, oregano, lavender, sage, rosemary, marjoram, dill, chives, … ) // Gewürze und Kräuter der Wahl (Cayenne, Pfeffer, Ingwer, Chili, Paprikapulver, Kreuzkümmel, Currypulver, Koriander, Kardamom, Kümmel, Knoblauch, … ; Thymian, Basilikum, Oregano, Lavendel, Salbei, Rosemarin, Majoran, Dill, Schnittlauch, …)
  • Tomato pulp for tomato sauce base (Optional) // Passierte oder Tomaten aus der Dose für Tomatensauce-Basis (Optional)
  • Plant mylk or cuisine for creamy sauce (Optional) // Pflanzenmylk oder Cuisine für cremige Saucen (Optional)
  • Yeast flakes for “cheezy” taste (Optional) // Hefeflocken für einen “cheezy” Geschmack (Optional)
  • Topping ideas : avocado, cherry tomatoes, sprouts, seeds, … // Avocado, Kirschtomaten. Sprossen, Samen, …

Sauce for Stir-Fry // Sauce für die Pfanne :

In general I like my stir-fry meals rather spicy! I add chili a lot as well as an oriental spice mix and ginger. For frying I mostly use coconut oil or soda. How to prepare? Don´t think I really have to explain but … simply prepare your ingredients – chop them, cube them, do whatever you want 😉 – and add them into your heated pan with oil or soda (or normal water also works quite well ;)) and spices. During cooking add the sauce/sauce ingredients. 😀 And eventually it´s done and you can enjoy 😀
